WSVN -- 2012 was the year of the celebrity baby.

News of a royal baby on the way was a welcome Christmas present for Prince William and Kate Middleton. The morning sickness ... not so much.

It was so bad the Dutchess of Cambridge had to be hospitalized. Two Australian radio DJs thought it'd be funny to pull a prank and called the hospital pretending to be the queen and Prince Charles.

Not funny. The nurse who was duped and put the call through was so mortified, she took her own life. The DJs lost their show.

Beyonce and Jay-Z got the year's baby boom off in January with a little girl they named Blue Ivy Carter.

Jessica Simpson finally popped. After the longest pregnancy ever, she gave birth to a baby girl.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen also had a little girl. So did Drew Barrymore and Kourtney Kardashian. Meanwhile, superstar singer Adele had a baby boy.

And after two girls, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner finally welcomed a son. Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green had a little boy. So did Reese Witherspoon and her new hubby. And Snooki had a little meatball.

Wedding bells are ringing for Jennifer Anniston and her new beau actor and filmmaker Justin Theroux. They got engaged. And after six children and a seven-year courtship Brad and Angelina decided to put a ring on it. Who'll make it to the altar first? The race is on.

Big splits in 2012. One of the biggest: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, who didn't just leave Tom she escaped. After five years of marriage and a baby girl together, Katie shocked the world and Tom by taking Suri and taking off. Tom and Katie settled their divorce in record time, the deets not disclosed, but just six weeks after the split, Tom-Kat was no more.

Breaking up and then making up: Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. The vampire blood hit the fan when Kristen admitted she cheated on Rob with her "Snow White and the Huntsman" married director Rupert Sanders. Rob eventually forgave Kristen and the two got back together... for now...

Also off again on again off again, I can't keep up, Justin Beiber and Selena Gomez weathering break up drama when Justin was busted getting friendly with an angel-- a Victoria's Secret angel-- backstage after the big fashion show. Selena was not having it and dumped the Beebs, but then took him back, but then she didn't. Anybody know the score? Ah, young love.

From break-ups to shake-ups on two of our favorite fox TV shows. First, "the X-Factor" blood bath after season one, judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Sherzinger out and so was host Steve Jones. Britney Spears in for a whopping $15 million contract. Also in as a new judge: pop star Demi Lavato. Mario Lopez and Khloe Kardashian signed on as the new hosts, and now there's word music mogul L.A. Reid will not be back for season three.

And big shakeups on "American Idol." After two seasons, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler out. Enter new judges: Country star Keith Urban and dueling divas mariah Carey And Nicki Minaj. Already the fur is flying!

It's gonna be a fun season and fun new year. Can't wait to see what happens as we ring in 2013 Gangnam style.
