But if you don't know what cut cuts it, you better be ready to pick:

We've got pear, round, emerald, marquis and more. So many stones, so hard to choose.

King's Jeweler Michael O'Conner: "It's really about the individual style and personality it's what you are comfortable wearing."

At Kings Jewelers they say it's easy to feel comfy in a classic, round cut.

But if you want something more contemporary, think asscher.

It's the stud of choice for Kate Hudson and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Michael O'Conner: "People want something special and something to stand out."

But if you really want to stand out, think marquis cross in the center of a cushion cut. And don't forget a stylish setting.

Michael O'Conner: "When you are setting a diamond into a metal, you want that metal to work well with the diamond."

And if you're having any reservations, remember you can't go wrong with platinum.

Michael O'Conner: "Platinum, because it has a naturally white luster, won't cast any of it's own color into the diamond."

Try something with an open gallery for an antique look or go with something more modern to really make a statement.

Michael O'Conner: "The diamond actually stands free from the standard four prong setting that you might see on some of the other styles."

And remember style is often more significant than size.

Michael: "it's really about the individual style."

Another big trend is colored diamond jewelry, especially black and canary diamonds.
