While the historic Fountainbleau Hotel is making it's debut in South Beach tonight, another resort and residence on Brickell is hoping to become it's own Icon in Miami when it opens in a few weeks. Seven's Belkys Nerey gives us a preview of the magic and adventure of the Icon Brickell.
WSVN -- Everything's bigger and better on Brickell, or at least that's the message the creators of the new Icon Resort and Residences are sending.
Jorge Perez: "The sheer size is by far the the largest building in South Florida."
Set on 10 acres in Downtown Miami, boasting Florida's longest infinity pool and the highest residential towers around, the Icon Brickell is just weeks away from opening its doors.
Jorge Perez: "I cannot even envision how something can be done more beautiful than this."
The brains behind this landmark adventure are mega-developer Jorge Perez and world-renowned designer Phillipe Starck.
Philippe Starck: "It's a place of intelligence, imagination, creativity."
Starck plays with your imagination from the moment you arrive on the property. You'll feel like a small ant as you drive through his maze of massive statues and columns, and Starck's whimsical spirit is evident as you step into this yellow glass lobby with a Goth twist.
Philippe Starck: "When you arrive at the entrance with this forest of color, you are arriving in the country of imagination."
Two of the Icon's towers are filled with condos, a spa, fitness center, restaurants and lounges. You'll be blown away with things like these plunge and foot pools situated right in the middle, of all things, a library.
Jorge Perez: "All of a sudden you are in a beautiful library with very comfortable seating areas, but it's also a plunge pool."
The outside is just as stunning, with a 300-foot infinity pool that sits above Biscayne Bay.
And you can lounge or dine in this outdoor living room with an over-sized fireplace. Whether you live there or not, the Icon Brickell will definitely be the place to stay and play.
Jorge Perez: "This was originally the center of Miami on both sides of the mouth of the river. I think this building becomes the center of Miami again."
The Icon Brickell opens Dec. 5. The Viceroy Boutique Hotel, which is in the third tower, is expected to open in February.
