Style File: Pampered Pooch
Forget "no pets allowed" -- these days dogs are getting a red-carpet welcome at Miami hotels. In tonight's Style File, 7's Belkys Nerey shows us packages that pamper your pooches.
WSVN -- Remember when the dog carrier was the way to travel? Well, that's so two years ago.
These days, Miami hotels are really spoiling well-traveled pets, like with the "Pampered Pooch" package at the Ritz-Carlton, South Beach.
Dogs like Peanut are treated like VIPs -- or, should we say, VIDs.
Jenni Greenspan: "More and more people, according to the trends, are bringing their pets when they travel, and they want their four-legged friends to experience the same luxurious treatment that they've grown accustomed to."
Shelly Weiss: "We're having sort of a girl's weekend, and Peanut is one of the girls, so we thought it would be fun to bring her with us to enjoy all the amenities."
No need to bark out orders here.
For relaxing rovers, there is a four-poster throne, covered with Italian designer sheets.
Pets are also treated to designer dog bowls filled with designer water plus meat treats shaped like a dog bone.
Shelly Weiss: "We walked in, and it was all set up for her. It was great, and she's been enjoying the food quite a bit. I'm not sure we're going to be able to top that at home."
To protect them from the dog days of summer, pooches also get a rubdown with sunscreen, so they can have fun in the sun too.
And the royal treatment doesn't end when they say goodbye -- pooches leave with flight bites: Travel snacks made just for them.
At the Four Seasons Hotel, their "Dog for All Seasons" package also caters to your pet's every need.
Hold their calls while they sip on bling water or relax in their own Furcedes dog bed.
But who has time to rest when there are so many fun things to do?
Eveliny Bastos-Klein: "We have dog walkers as well, who make sure that the dogs get their exercise."
There's also food for the dogs sniffing out a way to watch their doggone figures.
Eveliny Bastos-Klein: "We have a partnership with Dog Bar on South Beach, which is a specialty store, and so they come to us and can blend a special diet kind of food with organic elements, organic ingredients that will be suited for little dogs and their own special diet."
And don't forget the "paw-dy" favors...
Eveliny Bastos-Klein: "We also have some great little toys for the dog, all very fancy. 'Chewnel' -- bottles of Chewnel No. Five perfume bottles or the "Pawda" bags for the little girl dogs, and, for the boys, we do the Fur-aris."
Enough to have your dog begging to travel.
There are weight limits for the dogs that are welcome at these hotels, and prices for these packages start at around $250.
