If you're not the type to start your night at midnight, and you want to get things going a bit earlier, happy hour is for you. Clubs on South Beach are packed until the early morning, but there's something you can't find there. In today's Style File, Belkys Nerey discovers that the secret to a good happy hour is hiding in Miami's Design District.
WSVN -- We all know South Beach knows how to party, but sometimes it's nice to go out before, say midnight!
For those looking for a great happy hour, the grass is greener in Miami's Design District. At newly re-opened grass, things are always happy between 6 and 9 p.m.
Richard Filipei, Marketing Manager of Grass: "The drinks are two for one, and we provide appetizers at the bar for everyone to enjoy."
Frances Alban, customer during Happy Hour: "It's Thursday. It's the perfect spot for Thursday, a work day. and I'm enjoying it."
Grass' new setting is like a garden of Eden. It's all outdoors, lined with lush greenery and a tiki roof, perfect for sipping underneath.
Rick Tobin, customer: "The overall outdoor atmosphere is I think a great place for happy hour."
The chef treats everyone to different "appetizers each week and of course there are tropical specials.
Bartender: "The name of the drink is tequila in maqerina."
Customer: "Tasty, spicy, totally new drink lovely!"
Angela Caraway: "And it matches your pants."
Also in the neighborhood is Michael's Genuine Food and Drink with a great patio area and a cozy bar. It's a swanky new joint to do some happy hour business.
Anjanette Miller, business at Happy Hour: "It's very upscale classic crowd, very business professional base."
But you'll definitely want to mix business with pleasure here. The snack menu is gourmet with nibblers like crispy hominy, deviled eggs, and wood burned pizzas and all the drinks are half price.
Michael Schwartz, owner of Michael's Genuine Food & Drink: "It's a legitimate happy hour. For me, there is nothing worse than going to a bar that says they have a happy hour and there are like cheesy well drinks. Our happy hour is half price cocktails, the whole bar, including wines by the glass and beer."
Something that will leave everyone truly happy.
