Style File: Moonlight
It's a new way to experience the magic city: kayak the waters of Biscayne Bay under a full moon. In today's Style File, Seven's Belkys Nerey takes us on the unique adventure.
WSVN -- There are plenty of ways to see the beauty of South Florida. By car, bike or boat, but you've probably never seen it this way. South Beach Kayak is offering a full moon kayak where you paddle the waters of Biscayne Bay on the nights of a full moon.
Ana Marie Cortez-Meza: "We leave an hour and a half before sunset, so that we catch the sunset on the water. A lot of people who have lived here all their lives never get to see Miami from the bay."
During the first part of the tour you'll paddle around islands, the Venetian Causeway and see Miami's most beautiful mansions.
Jen Underhill: "It's really an adventure. You're seeing a different side of Miami. You get to take a home tour, you get to see the backyard of wonderful houses."
Matt Morell: "It's a combination between fun and exercise and being in nature and being together with friends."
You're in the water as the sun goes down and, once it has set, you head to a nearby island for a moonlight party.
Teresa Dayrit: "It was beautiful coming across the ocean. The moon in the background was nice to see."
Beatrice Morell: "It's also very romantic, especially when it gets dark, and the moon comes out. You feel like you're in a different world."
A different world where you hang out, listen to music and roast weenies over a bonfire, but save room for a campfire favorite, smores.
Jen Underhill: "Crispy marshmallows roasted over fire, graham crackers and some chocolate and yum, yum."
Alex Zauner: "Well, I really do like the s'mores."
The most unique part of the trip is the return kayak in the dark.
Jen Underhill: "You see the lights of the city on one side, the lights of Miami Beach on the other."
It's only you, the water and the moon and, of course, all the city lights to light the way home. A moon over Miami you can't miss.
Belkys Nerey: "The full moon kayak is only $40 per person and that includes everything. They also do starlight paddles each Saturday night too."
