The average wedding is $30,000, at least that's what the bridal industry wants you to think, but a South Florida woman says you can cut costs at the reception or at any party with a little divine intervention. In today's Style File, Seven's Belkys Nerey dishes on disposable celebrations.
WSVN -- When you think of disposables you probably think Dixie cups and white paper plates.
Janyce Granoff: "This is not your grandma's picnic plates."
Janyce Granoff just launched Divine Disposables. A company that offers durable, throw-away products that'll make any table sparkle.
Janyce Granoff: "Everything that you would use on a table top for food service, napkins, tablecloths, chargers, plates, cups, cutlery."
You get a high-end look without the high-end price.
Janyce Granoff: "Cutlery that looks like sterling silver, glasses that mimic Waterford."
She's created 24 looks, many of them knock-offs of tables she's seen at expensive weddings, or even swanky events like Oprah's Legends Ball. A table that looks like this, so affordable.
Janyce Granoff: "This particular place setting would cost about $70. If you were to rent a table setting that looks like this, it would cost hundreds of dollars."
Virginia Guanchez, the owner of Mojito Grill in South Miami, uses Divine Disposables for her catering events.
Virginia Guanchez: "They look great. It looks real. Most people, when you set the table, they can't tell the difference."
Janyce's biggest goal is to help brides throw an elaborate wedding reception for a fraction of the price and give everyone the chance to throw a big holiday party.
Janyce Granoff: "Most people don't have enough plates and dishes to create a wonderful, inviting table setting."
When the party's over, clean-up is magic.
Janyce Granoff: "You bring a trash can over to the table, pick up the table cloth and dump everything in."
Now that's divine.
Belkys Nerey: "You can buy the whole table or buy items individually to mix and match. Prices range from $2 per place setting to $14."
