Style File: New Spas
They're not your average day spas. From a spa that's totally outdoors with the sun and the ocean breeze to another spa sanctuary that'll make you feel like you're in heaven. 7s Belkys Nerey takes us for some one-of-a-kind relaxation in tonight's Style File.
WSVN -- Not that we're complaining, but if you've been to one spa you've been to them all.
Reo Davis: "Anyone can go to spa and get a massage in the room, and they've got the music playing and the candles."
Not so at the Betsy Hotel's new 'spa and wellness garden' in South Beach. It's the first spa in Miami that's completely outdoors.
Reo Davis: "It's located under the sun, under the blue sky in front of the clear blue ocean. You can actually see the beach clearly from here."
The zen-inspired spa is on the hotel's rooftop above Ocean Drive. It's surrounded by calming bamboo with places to lounge under the sun and private cabanas for luxurious treatments designed by Miami city massage.
Christine Klingspor: "The atmosphere out here is amazing. It's really beautiful. I love the breeze, it's an entirely different environment than going to a spa in a room."
You're welcomed with a mimosa then whisked away for inventive pampering like a 'champagne and berries delight' hand and foot treatment or indulge in their 'wood stone ritual' an 80 minute body and massage treatment.
Reo Davis: "The cool thing about this massage treatment is that we have natural stones made of bamboo that are chilled to 50 degrees. Once placed upon your body they warm very quickly."
Michael Grieco: "It starts cold you can feel the change in temperature and have it go through your body. To get a massage and feel the breeze, and just kind of enjoy the serenity of the outdoors. It's just an added experience."
If you're more of a spa traditionalist, escape to the new 'Heavenly Spa' at the Westin Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale.
Joanie Bowden: "We believe that your experience should be heavenly. We try to create a very serene atmosphere."
And they do both the men and women's relaxation rooms have soothing jacuzzis and the treatment rooms have IED lighting that changes color adding color therapy to your treatment.
Joanie Bowden: "The therapist can actually change the color of the lighting based on the Chakra system, and the guest can pick what color they prefer."
Treatments range from an illuminating facial to their signature 'rollersage' massage using these crystal spheres.
Joanie Bowden: "We actually let the guest choose from four different heated crystalline spheres. They have enhanced energy properties They can help with high blood pressure, they can help with the digestive system."
The heated spheres are rolled all over the body to loosen tight muscles.
Kimberly Longmire: "It was like no other massage I've ever had and I don't think I would ever get a regular massage again."
So whether you prefer indoor or outdoor spas you know you'll be in heaven.
BELKYS Nerey: "The only downside to a completely outdoor spa is a rainy day if that happens. The Betsy Hotel will open up one of their luxury suites for your treatment."
