Style File: Stone Crabs
It's the only time of year South Floridians are allowed to be crabby! Stone crab season is now in full swing and we've got some places where you can eat all the crabs you can handle at bargain prices! 7's Belkys Nerey goes big in tonight's Style File.
WSVN -- That "crack-crack" sound signals one of South Florida's favorite seasons, stone crab season! So bring on the claws!
Bryan Carrigan: "I wait all year for it. It's one of my favorite foods."
For the best bargain on stone crabs, grab a seat at Kitchen 305 in Sunny Isles Beach. Every Friday night they'll lure you in with this huge deal on the crustaceans.
Jonathan Hanzas, Kitchen 305: "It features our all-you-can-eat large Florida stone crabs, for $35. You get your choice of soup and salad and five different sides."
They'll start you off with five large claws then it's up to you how much more you can handle.
Daniel Santa Maria: "On a good day I think I could eat three to five pounds of crab."
We caught these guys competing to polish off as many as they could.
Bryan: "I think I've had about a dozen and counting so far, as many as you can bring out I can eat."
Daniel: "Right now I think I ate about ten crab legs. I could keep eating more."
Don't worry, management says they're ready for all you big-eaters and they expect to go through about 800 to 1200 pounds of crabs every Friday night.
Jonathon: "Keep feeding them. If they can put them down, we're gonna serve it to them."
The Four Seasons in Downtown Miami has the same generous attitude.
Eveliny Bastos, Klein, Four Seasons Hotel, Downtown Miami: "The only limit is really your appetite."
Chef: "Stone crab season at the Four Seasons, come and get it!"
Stop by the hotel's martini bar "14thirty-five" every Tuesday to gobble up unlimited stone crabs for $65 a person.
Eveliny Bastos: "We will serve you the first pound, and it is the jumbo crabs, the really large ones."
The bar has plenty of tasty cocktails and they'll help direct you on the best pairing for crabs.
"Our sommelier says that as much as he loves wine, he really would rather drink beer with stone crabs."
So, go crack some crabs, you have our permission to get messy.
Of course don't forget the old favorite Joe's Stone Crab, they also offer take away service on their crabs.
