Style File: Spring Fashion
After some cooler temps for South Florida this winter we've all got spring fever. In tonight's style file, it's anchors away as 7's Belkys Nerey shows us why nautical is nice for this season's fashion
WSVN -- Hey sailor! The nautical look is sailing into port for spring and summer.
Susan Merz: "It's a lot of stripes. We play up the red, white and blue."
The new store "Item" on Lincoln Road in South Beach has everything you need for great 'New England' style.
Mark Ferrari, Managing Partner, Item: "It's the true boaters lifestyle. It goes back to the Cape, the Kennedys, that really traditional classic nautical lifestyle."
Think striped dresses, checked shirts and their favorite item for spring, this hook belt.
Mark Ferrari: "It's taken from the old fishing boats up on the Cape where they use these giant hooks to get the catch. Everybody that sees that is like you got that Item belt on.""
Also in for spring, layered scarves and jewelry and shorts that can go above or below deck.
Susan Merz: "We're looking at the tailored short that you can either roll up or roll down, so you have that difference in length."
When it comes to swimwear for men, go for a classic just-above-the-knee suit.
Susan Merz: "You can literally go from the beach to the bar to the restaurant, because it is cut like a short, fits like a short, but it's made in swimwear fabric."
Or be daring in this shorter 'gant' suit modeled after a tennis short with a tank top.
If You're looking for affordable new and vintage clothing for spring, 27-year-old Tobi Salver just launched her clothing website called Fox House.
Tobi Salver, Fox House: "All my merchandise is here. I've turned my home into a studio."
Her favorite picks this season, day dresses with bold patterns.
Tobi: "She has on a black and white polka dot dress. It's sort of 'Mad Men' inspired, 50's inspired."
Lace and crochet also keep things sexy and sweet.
Tobi: "Well it's light, it's airy. It can be paired with anything."
Another trend for day time, high-waisted shorts with elegant blouses.
Tobi: "I would bring pieces in that are vintage to sort of give your outfit something unique."
How about slipping into this corset top and red vintage skirt or these leather shorts and sequin top are sure to dazzle. Now you're dressed and ready for a spring fling .
Most of Tobi's clothes are under $50, vintage pieces are higher. At Item each month they will pick their favorite hot item!
