Your summer just got sweeter from an authentic French cafe with to-die-for croissants, to a star chef's baked goods. 7's Belkys Nerey has some sweet new places that will give you a sugar rush in tonight's Style File.
WSVN -- Warning, warning this story could ruin your summer swimsuit diet, but we promise it is totally worth it. Miami's star chef Michelle Bernstein has opened a sweet lover's paradise called Crumb on Parchment in the Design district.
Michelle Bernstein: "Everything we're doing is about the crumb. The fresh baked goods."
Think fancy bake sale at a cozy, comfy cafe where the key word is homemade.
Michelle Bernstein: "It's a very American-style of baking. Big 'ole brownies, really wonderful scones. Our pastry chef doing these beautiful cupcakes, tall marshmallow fluff that she makes her self, cookies of all kinds."
Good cooking genes must run in the family. Michelle has recruited her momma to bake all these yummy cakes. Anything from carrot, coconut to lemon curd.
Anne Owen: "The baked goods are unbelievable. The cookies are only $1, and we all swear they are the best chocolate chip cookies in town."
From cookies to croissants just down the street a delicious piece of France is waiting for you at the French bakery Buena Vista Deli.
Cory Finot: "We do a lot of croissants, French pastries. We also make our own pates. We have fresh artisan breads, we also make a good variety of quiches."
The deli is run by two French men, Cory Finot and Claude Postel who is a seventh generation chef.
Claude Postel: "Every morning I wake up and go to the market. Everything is fresh
If the delicious smell doesn't grab you right away the cases full of French goodness will. Seriously, you will have a hard time choosing between all these pastries, but the must-haveis the almond croissant.
Claude Postel: "We have amazing croissants. We make our own almond cream."
They even make their own chocolate a recipe handed down from Claude's family.
Claude Postel: "It's homemade chocolate with meringue on the outside, soft when you bite into it you get a chocolate explosion."
Expect friendly service and a romantic spot to sip coffee and practice your French.
Mary Ellen Seitz: "They talk to you and greet you in French, they kiss you on both sides. and make you feel so special."
Customer: "When they see my vehicle coming up the road, my coffee is on the table before I even come in. I come here every day twice a day."
If there is any place worth blowing your diet this place is it.
Belkys Nerey: "Buena Vista Deli is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Crumb on Parchment also serves lunch."
