Style File: Wynwood
Miami's arts district Wynwood just keeps getting bigger and better. 7s Belkys Nerey show us all that's happening over there from art to music in tonight's Style File.
WSVN -- Don't wait for Art Basel in Dec. get over to Miami's Wynwood District now for a melting pot of art and music.
Every Thursday night at Joey's Restaurant there is live music on the patio.
Steph Taylor-Singer, The State Of: "It's such an eclectic mix of art here, that Joey's is only adding to that by bringing live music into the forum."
Each week there is a new local band playing unique music like this all girl group called "The State Of." They even write their own music.
Nabedi Osorio-Singer, The State Of: "We play dark Indie-Pop. We're going to do a nice mix of covers and originals."
William Tubbs: "Being outside on this beautiful patio, we spend a lot of time here."
You can nosh on Italian favorites like pastas and pizzas along with some great cocktail concoctions.
Yuri Tuma-Manager, Joey's: "We do have happy hour all night on specialty cocktails.
Yuri Tuma: "They're $5."
Yuri Tuma: "There's one I'm proud of it's called the honeyjack, which is honey-infused Jack Daniels with brown sugar orange and the mint, to kinda mix in the aroma with the taste."
Belkys: "Here in Wynwood it's a feast for all the senses. You can hang out at Joey's, grab a bite to eat, but then walk up the street and it's a visual experience at the Wynwood walls."
Jessica Goldman-Srebnick, Goldman Properties: "This year in preparation for Art Basel we've invited about seven new artists, world renowned from Greece, from Brazil, from Mexico. And what they're doing, they each have a wall and they have created some beautiful works."
This week artists from all over the world are giving the now famous Wynwood walls some new color and creativity.
This artist known as "B" is creating a colorful 75 foot mural.
B, Artist From Greece: "I want to express the way we live inside like this madness of consumption.
13:00 the good things, the bad things."
Also, new this year what's called The Wynwood Doors.
Jessica Goldman-Srebnick: "They are rolling garage doors, on the outside they're tagged and bombed
in typical fashion that you would see graffiti, and when you open up the doors they have these amazing portraits from all these different artists."
You get the picture it's a winning situation in Wynwood.
Belkys Nerey: "Don't panic, the most popular old murals at Wynwood walls are still up just expect about seven new large-scale murals. There are also several new cafes and coffee shops opening up right there in Wynwood so go check out the area."
