If you're looking for something different to keep the kids entertained over the holidays, how about ice skating? Best part you don't have to head up north where it's freezing to lace up your skates. 7s Belkys Nerey ices you up in tonight's Style File.
WSVN -- New York might have the famous ice skating rink at Rockefeller Center during the holidays, but now here in South Florida we can hit the ice with gorgeous weather.
Robert Hill: "It is unique in it's own way as you're going around the ice ring here, you can see Biscayne Bay, port of Miami."
At the Intercontinental Hotel's Holiday Ice Rink you get the whole winter wonderland feel without the frost bite.
Robert Hill: ""This is real ice. It's about five to six inches thick right now."
Hali Levy: "Here we really don't have seasons, so it really does get you into the spirit it just really feels like December."
The rink which is behind the Downtown Miami Hotel is open daily until January 15th where it's filled with holiday decor and music.
Kids: "I love ice skating it is so much fun."
And fortunately for all of us who've never been ice skating, you can hold on to the rails as you make your way around.
Hali Levy: "I made a couple of twirls, I didn't fall, Thank God."
For more cool holiday fun there's another ice skating rink on the lawn of the Riverside Hotel in Fort Lauderdale.
"It's just meeting new friends and having fun with others. I love it man it's awesome here."
The Las Olas skating rink is not made of ice but no one seems to mind.
Randi Karmen: "It's a very high friction surface, we do have a lubricant on top so you get that real sensation of ice-skating."
You still use real ice skates and some say the faux ice rink is less slippery and definitely not as cold when you fall.
They also offer these safety bars for those beginner skaters so you and your kids can have big holiday fun without the big chill.
Belkys Nerey: "Every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday the Intercontinental gives back 15 percent of the day's sales to several charities."
