There's nothing like a pre-party before a big party. The Las Olas Wine and Food Festival is April 20th, but if you don't have tickets there are tons of affordable events the week leading up to it. 7's Belkys Nerey gives us a taste of all the fun in tonight's Style File.
WSVN -- Get ready to down some vino and eat fabulous food at the 17th annual Las Olas Wine and Food Festival. The big street party is set for Friday, april 20th, but you can celebrate all week long.
For a taste of Spain head over to the beautiful Riverside Hotel on Wednesday the 18th for Wine Down Wednesday.
Ramsay Jones: "We'll be featuring five different wines from five different regions in Spain. We'll have everything from a Albarino to a Garnacha to Rioja."
For just $40 you can sip and eat great food.
Toby Joseph: "We're going to create five wonderful tapas dishes to blend with the wines. We have potato rojo with chorizo. An octopus salad. We have monk fish with vegetables. We even have grilled lamb chop with a honey aioli."
If you would rather go south of the border, head down the street to Rocco's Tacos on Wednesday for the Milagro Tequila Dinner.
Adam Dombrowski: "Great food, great tequila, fun atmosphere. The menu is hand-selected to pair with the tequilas by Milagro."
For $85 expect gourmet Mexican food paired with expensive tequilas like the hard-to-find Unico.
Adam Dombrowski: "It's very expensive tequila. The shot is $75 a shot. Having one shot of that tequila pays for your dinner almost."
On Thursday, April 19th the party keeps going at Tuscan Grill for the Banfi Italian Festival.
Gabriel Salas: "You're going to feel like you're in Italy. We have authentic Italian food."
For $65 you'll drink wines from Banfi Vintners and chow down on dishes like Italian sausage, coal baked pizzas, lamb chops and seafood salad. Bring your appetite, it's all-you-can-eat.
Gabriel Salas: "We have a beautiful courtyard here on the water, we're going to have a DJ, an excellent Italian singer is going to be singing."
If cheese is more your thing, one the newest and most charming spots on Las Olas The Cheese Culture is hosting Around the Wheel.
Susan Phipps-Owner: "We're going to feature six different styles of cheese. Everything from goat's milk, sheep's milk, cow's milk, soft rind cheeses, semi-firm cheeses, hard. It's cheese, it's not brain surgery. It's a fun thing."
A sommelier will be on hand to school you on wine.
Susan Phipps: "We're going to teach people to know which cheeses to pair with which wines."
So here's to a week-long celebration of Wine and Food Las Olas style.
Belkys Nerey: "Again, the actual Las Olas Wine & Food Street Festival is Friday April 20th and is $100 per person. The pre-parties start Monday the 16th and there are still plenty of tickets."
