Art Basel kicks off next week, and for those who can't get into the big parties or afford expensive art, in tonight's Style File, 7's Belkys Nerey will show us how you can experience Art Basel here in Miami all year 'round!
WSVN -- Art Basel or not ... Miami is bursting with 'arti-tude' all the time.
First stop: The new Style CTZN (pronounced citizen) Shop in Wynwood, which is part fashion boutique, part art gallery ...
Ysset Boan, owner, Style CTZN: "I wanted to open up Style CTZN, so I could really have a venue for emerging designers and artists to showcase their work."
You'll always find a new up-and-coming artist on exhibit there.
Christin Paige Minnotte, Fashion & Art Photographer: "I'm a fashion and fine art photographer ... They will be seeing editorial pieces like you would see in magazines, but created from all the work in the store."
Her store not only sells art pieces but has tons of fashion that allows you to literally wear art.
Ysset Boan: "Re Simple is a great local artist who takes pictures of all the murals in Wynwood, and he creates earrings, pendants and necklaces."
Or how about interesting T-shirts artists have turned into their canvas.
Ysset Boan: "We have Mathemagik and Fauta which are both local designers."
Another gem where you can support local artists all the time is the Bakehouse Art Complex in Wynwood.
Gita Shonek, Bakehouse Art Complex: "The Bakehouse is open to the public every day from 12 - 5 ... The artists get to meet people who are interested in their artwork and explain their artwork."
With more than 65 artists, you can wander through a maze of studios filled with anything from paintings to sculptures and ceramics.
Gita Shonek: "The prices are extremely reasonable."
You will always find something interesting.
Bianca Pratorius, artist at Bakehouse: "This is from a series that I did that was based on Miami construction sites about 10 years ago when everything in Miami was under construction ... This is Midtown where Target is ... and this is actually the Arsht Center ... People love them because they know the place."
Artist Ernesto Kunde paints South Florida motels and scenery. For Art Basel, he's doing these creative beach umbrellas to represent South Florida's "snow birds."
Ernesto Kunde: "Basically, a panorama of different beach scenes, there will be a migration of birds that's not ready yet ... that's the migration."
On a different note, artsy pianos will be popping up all over Miami gor Art Basel.
Jessica Wade Pfeffer, publicist, Pop-Up Piano Miami: "Pop-Up Piano Miami has brought together eight different artists that have painted and crafted eight pianos, and we'll be placing these pianos around different locations anywhere from Miami Beach to Wynwood."
Pop-Up Piano Miami will be hosting three free performances by local musicians at the pianos throughout Basel.
Jessica Wade Pfeffer: "People can come and tickle the ivories, and have fun on the pianos in between the live performances."
The pianos are gone after Basel, so see them while you can.
Bakehouse Art Complex is also throwing Art Miami's official after party on Saturday night december 8th ... It's open to the public and is only $10.
