Style File: Spring Looks
From patterns to pants one of the biggest names in fashion is giving us tips on the latest trends. In tonight's Style File, 7's Belkys Nerey has the top looks for spring and summer.
WSVN -- New York fashion designer Nanette Lepore loves to spend time in Miami.
Nanette Lepore: "I love Miami. I come down here a couple times a year. I love to come here for inspiration."
And her 2013 spring and summer line definitely has our style.
Nanette Lepore: "The color palate is very Miami. The whole time we were working with these corals and pale blue. I kept thinking about old school Miami the original Deco buildings on Ocean Drive."
Nanette says pack up last year's palazzo pants because track pants have gone high fashion.
Nanette Lepore: "It's the play on your sort of running pant. My take on them in really drapy fabric with sheer side panels, and then we also did it in a print, which is based on a beautiful old porcelain vase. You get the comfort of clothing you want to live in and yet you look really chic and high fashion."
And if you're looking for the it color of spring...
Nanette Lepore: "The color for this spring is emerald green and shades of green."
Lace is evolving too. You can find it in different patterns and a top pick is a lace dress with a colored slip.
Nanette Lepore: "Lace is being accepted as an every day fabric. If you get a lace dress of your own and it's a black lace dress that comes with a black slip, it's fun to take it apart and play with it with a bold colored slip or neon colored slip."
Best of all, fashion rules are being broken again this year, be a mix master.
Nanette Lepore: "This spring it's definitely a play on pattern. It's pattern on pattern on pattern. If you had one staple thing in your wardrobe that was a stripe or check or fun pattern, play with it, and put it with other prints in your closet."
Now you're on trend for spring and summer.
Belkys Nerey: "Nanette says she gets a lot of her inspiration from walking around the Lincoln Road flea market. You may see some of these fashions on me because Nanette Lepore provides pieces of my wardrobe."
