Style File: Beer & Wine
Beer is brewing in Broward County, and a new hot spot in Miami's South Beach will make you feel like you're sipping wine in the south of France. In tonight's Style File, 7s Belkys Nerey shows us where to spend your next happy hour.
KC Sentz-Owner, Funky Buddha Brewery: "South Florida has exploded over the last few years."
Head to Broward County where the Funky Buddha Brewery just opened in Oakland Park.
KC Sentz-Owner, Funky Buddha Brewery: "We'll have 20 or so of our own beers, and the rest of the taps being local beers throughout the state."
You can saddle up to their rustic bar for a beer tasting flight.
KC Sentz-Owner, Funky Buddha Brewery: "We'll have up to five ounces of four different types of beer."
Or take a tour of their huge facility to learn about the Buddha brewing way.
Juan Zilveti-Customer: "It's nice to have good beer and fresh beer this close. This was probably brewed just a few days ago."
Head brewer Ryan has come up with more than 100 different recipes and loves to brew outside the lines.
Ryan Sentz-Head Brewer: "We do a lot of beers that have a culinary influence to them. We do an apple pie beer. We do a maple bacon coffee porter. Our biggest seller is our no crusts, which is a peanut butter and jelly brown ale."
Wine lovers can wine down the week at the newly-opened WD 555 in South Beach. Every Friday night get a taste of the south of France at the wine shop's Pink Friday event, which is a celebration of Rosé.
Emmanuel Pelletier - General Manager, WD 555: "Every Friday we are going to taste between eight to 10 different Rosé. It's typical wine. It's fresh and fruity. Some of the Rosé have a little taste of peach."
From 7 to 11 p.m. you can sample chilled glasses of Rosé for only $5 a glass.
Mia Dequine-Customer: "Try every single one, see which one is the best."
You can sit in their gorgeous courtyard or at a wine barrel table inside as they pass around tasty, complimentary apps.
Emmanuel Pelletier - General Manager, WD 555: "Nice scallops with fresh celery. You're going to have speck with blue cheese, tapenade with fresh anchovies."
Mia Dequine-Customer: "I love the hors d'oeuvres, the pork belly with the little ginger very nice."
We'll toast to that.
WD 555 is also a wine shop, so you can pick up a nice bottle of vino there. The Funky Buddha Brewery has a daily happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. and brewery tours on the weekend.
