Style File: The Raleigh Hotel
The Raleigh Hotel is one of the most iconic hotels on South Beach, and now there are new reasons to visit even if you don't check in. 7's Belkys Nerey shows us how to spend an evening at the art deco hotel in tonight's Style File.
CJ Holden-Customer: "The room speaks for itself. It's got a history of it's own."
It's a night of toasting to the martini so expect lots of twists.
Ryan Goodspeed-Beverage Director, Genuine Hospitality Group: "Every Tuesday we invite in a local mixologist. They curate two martinis from any spirit or liqueur or bitters. It's about honoring the history of the martini, as much as it is the property here."
You'll hang with top bartenders from around town like guest bartender Fraser Hamilton from Blackbird Ordinary in Brickell, and you never know what kind of martini they will create.
Fraser Hamilton -Guest bartender, Blackbird Ordinary: "That's called a Kick Flip. It's with rye whiskey, a whole egg, Panther brewed coffee and vanilla liqueur, homemade syrup and aphrodite bitters, special bitters from Scotland where I'm from."
CJ Holden-Customer: "It's all about the theater, that theatrics that goes into the drink, it's never just about the cocktail, it's about the whole experience."
Top off the evening at the Restaurant Michael Schwartz, which is now open in the lobby and glamorous poolside courtyard.
Chef Daniel Ganem -Restaurant Michael Schwartz: "Bringing the seasonal product and local ingredients. We change the menus every day."
Expect a few staple snack items from Michael's Genuine restaurant like the crispy hominy and the addictive onion dip.
Chef Daniel Ganem -Restaurant Michael Schwartz: "Everything is done in house. So onion dip, we caramelize our own onions. The handcut fries we cut them every single day so when they cook they come into a crispy snack."
And right now summer produce is taking center stage with items like this peach salad.
hef Daniel Ganem -Restaurant Michael Schwartz: "Peaches with Thai basil. Humble fog cheese and some nice radishes."
All delicious reasons to revisit the Raleigh.
The martini culture starts at 7 p.m. and goes to 9 p.m. every Tuesday night.
