Style File: Montea Tea House
Tired of going to the same old coffeehouse. Well, if you're looking for a refreshing change, tea time isn't just for the Brits anymore. In tonight's Style File, we found a place that will have you turning over a new leaf in no time.
WSVN--Scones. Finger sandwiches. Different tea flavors. This isn't high tea in Hyde Park...This is Montea.
Montea House Owner Orlando Montiel: "The idea here is to have a casual place to have tea."
South Florida's newest hot spot is a teahouse on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. Here you'll find tea from around the globe. Here you can choose from 40 unique flavors like Russian Caravan and Chinese Lapsan-Shushang (shu-shang) Black tea.
Orlando Montiel: "The most popular are green tea of course because a lot of people talk about them beacause of the health benefits."
The added benefit here all the tea is freshly brewed so you can forget about those little tea bags. Even the iced teas are made to order.
Orlando Montiel: "All of them are fruity flavors like rasberries, passion fruit."
Sure the tea tastes good and with practically no sodium, fat, carbonation or sugar it's almost. Calorie free. Bonus!
Orlando Montiel: "Tea is kind of part of this trend, this culture where people are looking for healthier food, etc, healthier lifestyle."
And what's high tea without some finger food to go with it.
Orlando Montiel: "The salmon cucumber potato finger sandwiches…we have little pastries, one of the most popular one is called alfajor which is bread cookie filled with dulce de leche -- very very popular."
So if you want to wind down after a stressful day or just chat with friends -- then Montea is definitely your cup of tea.
Montea House Customer Denise Pinera: "It's a very enjoyable place. Its very relaxing. You come, have tea I love tea. I'm a very healthy type person so tea is wonderful for you."
Montea also has a great lunch menu and wine tastings on the weekends.
