After Hurricane Andrew, we all know what is like to go through a major storm. But if you want to help out the victims of Katrina, who says you can't have fun in the mean time. In tonight's Style File, we found some fabulous events - being organized here in South Florida - to help rebuild the Gulf Coast.
Ray Sullivan from Miami Contemporary Dance Company: "We if anyone have the compassion to understand whats going on."
The Art Cares Auction at the Miami Art Gallery will feature works from local artists that range from photography to paintings. Buy a piece help a hurricane evacuee. Over at North Miami's Ambrosino Gallery a more personal event is going on.
Genaro Ambrosino from Ambrosino Gallery: "We have two artists that work with the gallery that we represent that were born in New Orleans and both of them suffered great losses."
So the artists donated two of their pieces for a raffle and the money will go to the Red Cross.
Genaro Ambrosino: "People are responding, it's for a great cause and you get a piece of art."
Producers George Perry and John Ziegler are using their musical talents to help. They wrote a song about the missing children of the hurricane -- and want the money from its sales to go towards the relief efforts.
Music Producer George Perry: "We have to sort of ease the pain on our own minds by doing the right thing."
Foodies you can help out and pig out all at once. Culinary students and instructors at Johnson and Wales University are hosting a food and wine benefit complete with a southern inspired menu.
Loreen Chant from Johnson and Wales University: "The food is phenomenal the chefs do a nice job, the students are excited to do it and at the end of the day the goal is to raise a lot of money to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina."
And we didn't forget our fashion friends. T-shirt designer Michael Stars united with the Red Cross. Part of the proceeds from this special edition tee will go to the organization. And speaking of tees listen up creative kids. 5 bucks and you can paint your own t-shirt at the Miami Children's Museum. The proceeds go towards the restoration of Children's Museums across the Gulf Coast.
Cecilia Dubon from Miami Children's Museum: "It's gonna be a lot of fun, and the money is going to an amazing cause and we are just doing every little bit to help."
