Woman to Woman: Makeover
Ladies, there's nothing like a new hairdo, new wardrobe or dropping a few pounds to make us feel better. This month... we're following four women who are hoping to change their lives by changing their look. Tonight-- meet Mischelle -- this mother's makeover long overdue.
That's right... Michelle Beattie hasn't changed her hairstyle in almost 2 decades. Like many moms-- Mischelle traded in the primping and pampering for dishes and diapers. Her son Easton-- now 6-- takes up much of her time... not to mention Mischelle works fulltime-- leaving little time for looks.
Mischelle says, "Time for the hair and the nails and everything just doesn't seem to fit in to the schedule anymore."
Ah-- but Michelle's life is about to change -- thanks to the Beach Club Salon in South Miami.
"I've been trimming my own bangs and cutting the back across and that's about it."
First hairdresser Jose Alonso helps Mischelle say bye-bye to the kinky curls.
And hello healthy looking locks.
One week later, I meet up with her for the second part of her transformation.
This time it's color and highlights by hairdresser, Douglas Gonzalez.
Douglas says, "We're going to leave it long, but again not too many layers, I don't want to thin out her hair, I want her hair to look thick and healthy."
A snip here, some color there, and a lot of blow drying later, Mischelle's got a new do...
Douglas says, "So this is something Mischelle will be able to do herself, she can just dry it a little."
And now that the hair is done, it's time for some makeup and for that we have Makeup Artist Josie Rivero, she's from Saks Fifth Avenue, she's with Chanel.
"What are you doing to Mischelle now?"
Josie says, "Right now Mischelle has beautiful skin so we need to even it out."
Josie adds foundation, a splash of eye color, blush, lipstick and mascara to bring out Mischelle's inner beauty.
Josie says, "I think that in five minutes, 10 minutes, half an hour, you can really bring out how you feel inside."
But what about the outside?
Take a look at Mischelle before... And now here she is after... The change visible on the outside, but more importantly on the inside.
Beatriz asks, "How does it feel?"
Mischelle says, "I think it feels wonderful. It feels really natural to me, and I think it looks great."
But what really matters to Mischelle is what her son Easton will think.
She says, "Look I'm crying."
Beatriz asks, "Why are you crying? Explain to me how you feel?"
Mischelle says, "Oh he loves my hair straight, he just wants to be able to brush it and stuff and this will be the first time he's ever really been able to do that."
"I think she looks pretty."
Now to keep up the look, our hair experts say Mischelle needs to get her hair colored about once a month, which can get expensive.
Next Tuesday, we continue our special month of makeovers with a surprise for a mother of eight children.
