Woman to Woman: Woman Fitness Makeover
Those pesky pounds... How many do you have to lose ... 5, 10, 50? Do you find that no matter what you do, the bulge isn't budging? Well, in tonight's Woman To Woman report, we're introducing you to Mauryn. She hopes to reach her goal of losing weight through a fitness makeover.
(WSVN) -- "If you don't feel good, if you don't look good, you don't give the world the best of you," says Mauryn Perez. "I'm healthy, but I kind of kept increasing my weight in the past couple of years, and I can't take it off"
It's the battle of the bulge... so many women wage but have a tough time winning.
Mauryn -- about to turn 30 -- says it seems tougher than ever for her to lose weight... but the scale is about to shift in her favor.
"I really need somebody to guide me and tell me exactly what I should be doing, tell me how to do it effectively, so I don't keep wasting my time," she says.
Say no more, Mauryn... Zone Fitness Trainer Joseph Dion to the rescue.
Joseph has trained baseball stars like Alex Rodriguez and Alex Gonzalez.
His mission with Mauryn-- to help her lose 20 pounds in 4 weeks ... Mauryn's mission is mainly from the waist down.
"How difficult is it for the average woman to lose weight in this area to target that area?" asks Beatriz.
"It's really not that difficult, if they do a lot of repetitions with light weights," says Joseph.
We met up with Mauryn and Joseph two weeks into their workout -- Mauryn already eight pounds lighter... Her thighs considerably tighter.
Joseph's technique... weight training with a twist... combining a cardio with lots of repetitions... and only seconds between sets. The heart keeps pumping and the pounds plummeting.
"So its targeting right here the hip a hundred percent so this is one of the best," says Joseph.
Mauryn says, "I know, I personally hate these but, definitely, they're effective... lunges."
Lots and lots of lunges -- a move Mauryn says really works.
"I have a little more space in my pants, but I have a way to go," she says.
Fast forward... two weeks later... Mauryn's makeover complete...
"The first week I was really tired," Mauryn says. "After the program started going on I started feeling better, I started waking up earlier."
So how'd she measure up?
Take a look at Mauryn a month ago, and check her out now.
She's dropped 15 pounds, lost nearly four inches around her waist, and is a lot more fit.
The pants she wore to her first interview are now too big.
"It's nice to see that my clothes is fitting nicer, I'm slimmer and I feel much better," she says.
Her family just as excited about her slimmed down physique.
"I think she looks great," says Vivian Murray, Mauryn's sister. "She has worked out so hard, and we're very proud of her."
The question now... will Mauryn manage to keep the momentum going? She sure plans to.
"I'm very happy," she says. "I feel great. I feel much more alive, even younger, but I definitely want to stay on this track and even lose a little bit more."
Mauryn's new goal: lose a total of 35 pounds.
She's doing that through both exercise and changing the way she eats.
