Stars hit up 'Rock of Ages' screening

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- The red carpet was rolled out on South Beach for movie stars ready to rock at a special screening of a flick shot in South Florida.
'Rock of Ages' may have wrapped shooting in South Florida last summer, but some of the stars of the head-banging, big hair, 80s kind of movie are back on South Beach for a special screening, Thursday night.
The movie, starring Tom Cruise and a host of other A-list Hollywood heavyweights, is based on a Broadway musical and was filmed locally. "They're filming in all parts of Broward: They're filming in Hollywood, they're filming in Fort Lauderdale," said one woman.
7News sat down with one of the stars of the film, Julianne Hough, to find out what she liked most about filming in sunny South Florida. "From the food to the beach to the weather, I mean, it was amazing," she said. "But also just the fact that everybody was welcoming and so nice."
Thursday's red carpet event also includes the films director Adam Shankman, who's giving South Florida major props for its filming hospitality. "We had a great time here. The city was so good to us," he said. "It's not like we ever really went out because we were working seven days a week, but we had a great time here. I'm telling you, the city could not have been better to us."
'Rock of Ages' is about fame, fortune, loving life and Rock 'n' Roll.
The theatrical opening of 'Rock of Ages' is scheduled for June 15.
