Kardashian sisters receive key to North Miami

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (WSVN) -- Kourtney and Kim Kardashian have received a key to a South Florida city.

"We are honored to welcome you to this community, our community the city of North Miami," said North Miami Mayor Andre Pierre.

The Kardashian sisters are in North Miami filming the third season of their reality hit "Kim and Kourtney Take Miami." "We're in Miami for the summer. This city is amazing we're gonna have so much fun," said Kourtney Kardashian.

Season one and two were shot at the Hilton Bentley hotel on Ocean Drive. But when the sisters wanted a Venetian Island waterfront mansion for Season 3, South Beach residents opposed the idea.

However, embattled North Miami Mayor Andre Pierre agreed and presented Kim and Kourtney with keys to the city, an honor usually bestowed on heads of state, philanthropists, heroes and now Kardashians. "We just wanted to say that it is was such an honor," said Kourtney Kardashian. "We love North Miami. We feel so welcome here."

"You know we've done two seasons of our show out here before. A couple years ago and when Kourtney and I branched off and went to go film in New York, and we love New York but there was something that we missed about Miami," said Kim Kardashian. "So, we came back and we are so excited to be here."

The sisters have been shooting here since October and Mayor Pierre said the Kardashians have elevated his city and not just the male population. "So with the Kardashian sisters, not only do we believe they have added value to the city of North Miami at this moment, but also what this city can be in the future," he said. "So we honor them for their work in this area."

Kim Kardashian expressed her gratitude to the City of North Miami for allowing them to film their reality series with such ease. "Everyone in North Miami and all of Miami, you've been so welcoming to us and so great to us and you've made it so easy for us to film and I know it's not an easy thing when you hear a reality show is coming to film, but I hope that we have proven how respectful our crew and our production is and we are just so excited that everyone has welcomed us with open arms," said Kim Kardashian. "We are just so excited to be here and this is such an honor. Thank you so much."
