MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are investigating a shooting that occurred inside a South Beach nightclub, where one man was killed and two others were wounded.
According to Miami Beach Police, multiple gun shots were fired inside Heathrow Lounge, located on 681 Washington Avenue, at around 3:30 a.m. Monday.
Twenty-three-year-old Robert Edward was shot and kill and two adult males were also injured. Edward's was taken to Ryder Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead. "We also had two males that were hit and we had to attend to their needs. The male was shot and unfortunately deceased at Ryder Trauma," said Miami Beach Police Officer Deborah Doty.
The night club was busy as they promoted a Father's Day bash. Police said, as they responded to the shots it could be heard from the main road on South Beach. "Officers arrived and they saw this pandemoniac here. People running out of the club and they did hear a couple of shots," said Doty.
Kenny Johnson, a security guard at Heathrow, said pat downs at the doors are not unusual. "When you walk past that door it's mandatory for someone to check all pockets and all dudes get a full pat down," said Johnson.
According to business reports, Heathrow opened its doors on December of 2008, and was featured on a special segment on Channel 7 as one of the beaches newest, trendiest clubs.
MBPD are conducting an investigation and are checking all surveillance video from both inside and outside of the club. "Everyone has been cooperating and of course, it's going to take a little while to complete the investigation because we are still putting things together," said Doty.
No arrests have been made. Police have not released any descriptions of the shooter or shooters.
