Elderly woman hospitalized after hit and run

TAMARAC, Fla. (WSVN) -- Officials are investigating a hit and run that left an elderly woman clinging to life.

Broward Sheriff's Office investigators arrived on the scene along Commercial Boulevard and 441, at around 11:16 a.m. The victim is described as an 84-year-old woman.

Tamarac Fire Rescue crews transported her to North Broward Medical Center in extreme critical condition. Traffic homicide investigators arrived on the scene. Police said the woman had just stepped off of a Broward County Transit Bus and crossed Commercial Boulevard at the 4000 block, from south to north when the eastbound vehicle struck her.

Paramedics transported the woman to the hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

According to witnesses, the suspect vehicle is described as an older model Chevrolet Caprice, four-door sedan.

Jostene Philostine said he heard the culprit fleeing after the accident. "Then I hear the wheel of the tire, weeeee, and then I realized there was a woman in the street," he said.
