HIALEAH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are investigating a police involved shooting.

Police blocked off several blocks of LeJeune Road between 38th Street and 41st Street, Thursday night, while they investigated shooting.

Police said it started with an investigation of three men in Miami Gardens. According to police, some officers chased the suspects, which resulted in a gun fight.

"At one point, the subjects attempted to run over our officers," said Miami Gardens Police Captain Ralph Suarez.

After attempting to run over the officers, the three men took off, said police. "They ended up back here on LeJeune Road and about 40th Street, in Hialeah," said Hialeah Police Detective Carl Zogby. "The subjects crashed into an unattended parked car, and at that point, they tried to bail out of their vehicle. There is a confrontation between Hialeah Police officers, and Miami Gardens officers and Opa-Locka officers were on the scene already. Apparently, they encountered some armed resistance, and there was an exchange of gunfire."

All three men were transported to the hospital. One officer was also transported with minor injuries.

Police continue to investigate.
