MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (WSVN) -- Officials have unveiled plans for a brand new water park just across the street from Sun Life Stadium.

Miami Dolphins CEO Steve Ross is aiming for a spring 2012 opening as the Florida Marlins make the move to a new venue.

The 20-acre water park would include private cabanas and a swim-with-the-fish pool. Ross hopes the attraction will keep revenue coming for Sun Life Stadium year-round.

The privately-funded project would be Miami-Dade's first water park in almost two decades, and South Florida's first new major attraction since Jungle Island opened in 2003.
