Good Samaritan steps in to help dog owner

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida pet owner has been reunited with her dog after a Good Samaritan offered to pay the animal's emergency bill.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to a call Sunday evening, after a dog was impaled by a fence at the home near 14555 SW 152nd Terrace.
Aida Padron, the owner of the 5-year-old German Shepherd called Shenna, tried to jump over the rusty fence in the backyard and did not make it. "I saw that I couldn't help her myself. When I saw her leg was basically stuck, I got really scared," said Padron.
Fire Rescue cut the iron fence and administered an IV and transported Shenna to Miami Pet Emergency Clinic. "The dog was bleeding, and it was obviously in a lot of pain," said Fire Rescue.
Doctors keep Shenna overnight for observation. "Things to worry about a little bit was the rusty iron fence, so we have to worry about tetanus, and we have to worry about other kind of infections," said Dr. George Smith.
Padron said she couldn't get her dog back unless she paid the emergency care bill, which was $1,500. "I was really sad. She's a good dog," said Padron.
Then, a 7 News viewer heard the story and stepped in to help pay for Shenna's medical bill. "I kind of feel like God put you in places for a reason, and we've been blessed and to share that blessing with others is what we all need to do," said Terri. "Especially in this day and age."
Shenna is at home with her family and will be staying indoors.
