Burn victim completes treatments
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Michael Brewer completed his final treatment at a renowned burn center, and his mother said her faith has been rewarded.
Monday, Michael Brewer completed his last treatment. "Today is Michael's last burn clinic. It is a very important day," said his mother, Valerie Brewer. "We're very proud of Michael. He's worked very hard to get to this point. We want to thank all of the doctors and nurses here at the hospital."
On Oct. 12, the teen was airlifted to the hospital after he was doused with a flammable liquid and set on fire.
"It feels good. I'm free," said Michael.
"It's incredible. It's been an incredible journey. We've learned so much about ourselves and our son, and about the world and the support that we got from everybody," said Valerie.
The road to recovery was not an easy one, but Michael got through it. "Prayers, believing, and family," he said.
Valerie said she is thankful her son pulled through. "The scarring is bad but he has full range of motion," she said.
Several juveniles have been charged as adults with attempted murder in Michael Brewer's case.
Michael said he is enjoying every single day of his new life at his new school in West Palm Beach.
