Missing 11-year-old boy found

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. (WSVN) -- An 11-year-old boy who went missing last week has been found.

According to reports, Ishmyel Jean was found Monday morning in Downtown Miami by Occupy Miami protesters.

Jean was reunited with his family at the North Miami Police Station just after noon. "Thank you. I just want to thank North Miami and everybody looking for me, and I just want to say thank you to my family for helping me through this," said Jean as he wiped away tears. "I see that a lot of people love me."

With his father's arms around him, Jean then explained where and why he took off. "I just kept on walking. One of my friends found me. I was scared and upset," he said.

Jean was last seen Thursday at 7 p.m.

According to police, Jean, who is a sixth grade student at Northwest Christian Academy, reportedly had a misunderstanding with his mother when he left his home near Northwest 126th Street and Northwest 11th Avenue.

Jean's frantic father is relieved to know his son is safe but now he wants some answers. "I wanna ask him everything. I want to ask him from day one what did he went through, where did he go," said Maxime Jean.

Detectives are not commenting on the specifics of the investigation.
