Police search for gunman who robbed firefighter

MIAMI (WSVN) -- Police are now seeking the community's help in finding a robber who held a firefighter at gunpoint and made off with his gold chain.
The armed robbery took place on Sunday inside the Liberty City neighborhood of Miami.
Authorities said that the firefighter was hunched over a yellow fire hydrant he was inspecting when the suspect approached him from behind, pointed a gun at his head and demanded his gold necklace.
The firefighter surrendered the jewelry to the armed robber and ran away from the gunman, who shot at the victim three times. The firefighter was not struck by any bullets. "Bang, bang, bang. Three [shots] right in a row. The guy tried to take the [firefighter's] chain ... The guy came behind the [firefighter], but the fireman was OK," said resident Leroy Payne. "[The suspect] didn't stop. He just went by casually, like somebody jogging."
On Tuesday, City of Miami Police officers handed out flyers to residents in the neighborhood where the robbery took place. They are seeking any tips related to the crime, no matter how small.
If you have any information on the suspect's whereabouts, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
