MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (WSVN) -- Just one day before Veterans Day, employers are hoping to put some former military members to work.

A military-to-civilian recruiting firm is hosting a job expo at Sun Life Stadium, Thursday. Nearly 30 organizations are hiring at the event. The job fair began at around 11 a.m. and will end at 3 p.m.

The new jobs are meant for men and women transitioning from active duty to civilian life. "When you get out of the military, you really don't know what's the next step to do," said Nathaniel Patterson. "I spent four years in the military, so I had people telling me what to do, and when you get out, it's like what do I do now?"

The organizers of the event are urging members of the military and their spouses to attend.

In Pembroke Pines, Walmart opened a hiring center near a construction site that will bring the future big box store to the area. "The construction people are out their paving parking lots, rigging the wiring, doing all those things, getting ready for us to get into position next month," said Frank Sealy of Walmart.

Sealy said, the hiring center opened on Monday, and his company expects to fill as many as 350 positions.
