Broward Teacher's Union appoints new leader

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- The Broward Teacher's Union has a new administrator, amidst a financial investigation.
John Tarka has been appointed by the American Federation of Teachers to be the head of the BTU. "Our primary concern with the American Federation of Teachers is to make sure that our children are doing well, that our children succeed, that the members of Broward continue their determination to help our children succeed," said Tarka.
Tarka will oversee the chapter for the next six months while an investigation of the union's financial affairs continues.
The union's former president, Pat Santeramo, is also under the investigation for allegedly mishandling union funds.
