PLANTATION, Fla. (WSVN) -- Several 7 News viewers have stepped in to give to a family who had their Christmas presents stolen in a home burglary.

On Tuesday, thieves broke in to the Plantation home of Juan Gallego, Melissa Franczak and their 3-year-old daughter, Nadya.

The crooks ransacked the family's home and stole several TVs and other electronics from the residence. "That's how they left it," said Gallego. "All this was here, open. Everything was open."

The suspects tipped over the Christmas tree, which caused some of the ornaments to break and the angel on top to fall. They also took many of the presents underneath. "They stole a couple of my toys," Nadya said. "It's wrong."

After the family's story aired on 7 News, viewers lent a helping hand to the family. A local radio station surprised them with a 42-inch flat-screen TV and several gift cards. "Thank you, sir. Thank you, guys," Gallego said to the Good Samaritans.

Yet another viewer gave the Gallego family a shopping spree and $500 in cash. The family is now grateful for the kindness the community has shown them. Franczak said, "There are good people out there. It's not about the presents, it's not about what we have, it's about who we have around us."

Gallego agreed. "The same way there's bad people, there's going to be good people, and it was proven to me today," he said.
