Video released in transit bus, FedEx truck crash

MIAMI (WSVN) -- Surveillance video captured the moment of impact as a FedEx truck collided with a transit bus, sending over a dozen people to the hospital.
The Miami-Dade Transit bus was riding along Northwest 17th Street and Seventh Avenue on Tuesday, when a FedEx delivery truck rammed into the driver's side of the county bus.
Surveillance video taken from cameras on board the bus showed the front windshield of the bus, as it shattered upon impact. The video also showed about 20 passengers as they suddenly fell to the bus floor after the collision. "I was sitting in the back, and I just heard the screech and the slam," said Daniel Perez, who was a passenger on the bus during the crash. "People were flying everywhere."
Among those who were thrown to the bus floor in the accident was a teenager in a wheelchair. City of Miami Fire Rescue Lt. Ignatius Carroll said, "One concern that we did have initially was a 16-year-old little girl who was on the bus who was wheelchair-bound."
Some passengers were taken off the bus on stretchers, while others were lifted out through the bus windows.
A total of 25 people were evaluated on scene, and 18 of them, including the bus driver, were taken to the hospital.
According to police, the driver of the FedEx truck ran a red light and slammed into the bus, which caused the crash. That driver was cited in the accident, officers said.
