Driver rescued after crashing into canal

SOUTHWEST MIAMI DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A driver will be OK after losing control and veering into a canal.
The accident happened northbound on State Road 874, near the Florida Turnpike, leaving a car stranded in the water.
According to the driver, Allen English, a medical issue caused him to lose control. "I have a problem where I start coughing and pass out," he said.
A Good Samaritan wasted no time to dive to the rescue. "I had to get him," said Marcus Rowell. "I had to get him out no matter what."
When English came to, Rowell already had him out, He watched as his truck began sinking fast. "It was still floating when they got in the water," English said.
Rowell said he watched the pickup drive onto an embankment under a bridge before it flew into the water. "He went up on the side and went up in the air and just went in," he said.
English received treatment on the scene for minor cuts but was not transported. Now the husband and father is worried about his transport to and from work. "The problem is I have nothing to go to work with now," he said.
Rowell, however, knows that the accident could have turned out much worse. "Today is a good," he said. "It's a good day. It's a blessed day."
Cell phone video captured the rescue. Remember, if you see news happening and can do so safely, take a picture or shoot video and send it to: senditto7@wsvn.com.
