MIAMI (WSVN) -- Pink slips could soon be going out at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The chief executive of Jackson Health Systems says it is preparing to announce significant layoffs in two weeks.

Managers of the troubled health system are examining each department, trying to decide where cuts can be made without affecting the quality of care for patients. Carlos Migoya, CEO of Jackson Health Systems said, "We don't have the working capitol to absorb any loses. For that reason we have to reduce our expenses immediately. At this point, we don't have our labor agreements with our unions, yet, but we are hopeful we are able to do that."

Jackson showed a more than $300,000 surplus in December, but the system is projecting it will run out of cash by August without major changes.
