1 hospitalized, 1 questioned in shooting

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A South Florida man has been shot in the foot after dispute with a co-worker near a busy Miami Beach road.

The shooting occurred near the Self Defense Center located in a shopping center in the 900 block of Alton Road just before 2 p.m., Wednesday.

A man who works with the two men said the men were co-workers and went to the Self Defense Center to do a job when one shot the other. The man said the two co-workers got into a car after the shooting and drove down Alton Road.

Police caught up with the men a few blocks away, on 15th Street and Alton Road, and found them in a vehicle. According to Miami Beach Police, one of the men they found had been shot in the left foot. Rescue crews transported him to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The second man was taken to the Miami Beach Police Department for questioning. Police said there have been no arrests. "He was supposed to meet me here, and everything didn't jibe. I got here, and here's the cops, and he got shot, and the guy had a truck with a ladder in the back. I knew right away who it was," said Michael Marciano, who said he worked with the two men.

When asked why one of the men would shoot the other, Marciano said, "That I can't answer."

The incident remains under investigation.
