Crews working to repair sewage leak

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Crews are trying to repair a sewer main after it ruptured in Miami Beach.
Miami Beach Public Works crews responded to the scene of the sewer line break near 69th Street and Indian Creek Drive at around noon, Friday.
Crews had to shut down a valve in order to repair the line. Some of the sewage spilled into the streets and even the waters of the Intercoastal. "I normally park right here, and I had to go around the block, and I smelled something bad, and I'm kind of worried, you know? I live around here," said Tim Robinson, who was just arriving home from work when he saw the repair underway.
According to city officials, they are unsure what caused the 4-foot-long break in the 60-year-old pipe that ruptured.
Residents were unaffected by the break, as the water in the area was not shut off due to the rupture.
Once crews repair the sewage line and the street, they will be able to clean up the waters currently flooding the roads and turn on the valve. Crews hope to have the break fixed by midnight.
