Zoo Miami hosts Exotic Pet Amnesty Day

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Unusual pets were put up for adoption at Zoo Miami, Saturday.

Owners gave up lizards, turtles and even an albino python at Zoo Miami's Exotic Pet Amnesty Day.

The event ensured the non-native animals get the proper care they need.

The program helps to place hundreds of animals by providing owners an alternative to releasing the animals into the wild.
