At least 14 shot, 2 dead, in funeral shooting

NORTHEAST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred outside a funeral home.

The shooting happened at around 9:30 p.m. Friday outside of Funeraria Latina Emmanuel funeral home along West Dixie Highway and 149th Street. Investigators said shots were fired while funeral services were taking place for Marvin Andre, 22, of North Miami, according to The Miami Herald.

According to the pastor who conducted the funeral, the service had just concluded when the shooting occurred. "It was horrific. People were going crazy, running, just chaos," said Pastor A.D. Lenoir.

One man who attended the funeral said, "[Everybody was] screaming, running all over the place. The parking lot was full of people. There were more than about 60 people [in the parking lot]," he said. "There were so many people inside, and there were a lot of people outside."

At least 14 people were shot, including 5-year-old McKayla Bazile. "I grabbed her so we could go and she was screaming and I'm like why are you screaming, I thought she was scared," said Someta Etienne. "Then I saw the blood coming from her pants."

One person reportedly died at the shooting scene. Another victim succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

Etienne is very upset about the shooting and said that her daughter was shot in the leg. "You're not only hurting that person, you're hurting so much people, it's crazy," she said. "My daughter only five, only five, and I wasn't going to bring her with me but I did."

Rescue crews transported the victims to Jackson Memorial Hospital and Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood in a variety of ways depending on the severity of their injuries. Bazile is at JMH in stable condition.

Police are now looking for six male subjects, who were riding in a white 2006 or 2009 Pontiac or Impala with dark tinted windows.
