Teen helps save man, kids from rip current
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida teen helped save the lives of a father and his two young boys after they were caught in a rip current.
The two young boys has been swimming at Fort Lauderdale Beach when they were overtaken by a rip current, Sunday.
The boys' father swam out to rescue his sons but also became caught in the same current.
Seeing the family in distress, 15-year-old Saleh Saleh jumped into action. "I couldn't get his dad and I got the kid and put him on the boogie board, and I just brought him to shore," he said, "The kid was saying, 'Please, don't let me die. Please, don't let me die. Please, pray for my dad, pray for me. Please, get me ashore.'"
Police said the boys are going to be OK.
Rescue crews transported the father to the hospital, where his condition was listed as non-life threatening.
