MIAMI (WSVN) -- A sail around the world took off from Downtown Miami for another leg of the race.

The Volvo Ocean Race teams shipped off from Miami, Sunday.

The sailing yachts are now headed towards Portugal in leg seven of nine, which covers 39,000 nautical miles.

Crew members performed last minute preparations to make the sail around the world. "We gotta sail across the ocean, you know, we're getting pretty good at this preparation. Breaking down our base, getting the boat ready," said Puma skipper Ken Read. "The shore team has done a fantastic job, and now it's up to the sailors to go and try to win the boat race."

So far, Team Telefonia is the overall leader.

The race will come to an end in Ireland this summer.
