SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- An officer is being hailed a hero after he pulled two people from their burning South Florida home.

Miami-Dade Police Officer Christopher Casiano said he is not a hero and was just doing his job when he pulled two people from a Southwest Miami-Dade home that caught fire Thursday night. "I just followed my heart and did what it wanted me to do, and what I would expect anyone else would be able to have to help," said Casiano.

Casiano was patrolling the neighborhood when he noticed smoke. "I stopped in front of a house when all I saw was an orange glow, so I was assuming this has to be it," he said.

Isis Farinas' husband was inside the burning home. She said has it not been for the officer, they would have died. "If he had been a minute later, they would have burned to a crisp," said Farinas.

Casiano then ran inside the home and grabbed two people from inside. Farinas' husband was rushed to the hospital. "I was just being a human being, I just did what anyone else would have done. I just did it in a capacity of a police officer," said Casiano.

The man hospitalized will be OK.
