CUTLER BAY, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are searching for a gunman who opened fire on a Miami-Dade Transit bus, killing a passenger.

Authorities responded to a reported shooting on a Miami-Dade County Transit bus along South Dixie Highway and Caribbean Boulevard in Cutler Bay, Tuesday night.

Passengers said, just before 10 p.m., two men were arguing on the bus when one of them fired two shots. "The bus was almost coming to a stop," said Rufus McKenzie. "When it stopped at the light, that's when everybody ran to get off."

Rescue crews airlifted Lamar Callie, 24, to Kendall Regional Trauma Center where he later died.

Police said the shooter ran off the bus with the terrified passengers. Police are now searching for the gunman.

The passengers on the bus were taken off and sequestered, then placed on another bus. They are grateful that no one else was harmed by the gunfire. "It was real frightening at times," said McKenzie. "It was very, very frightening."

Wednesday morning, passengers at the same bus stop were not phased by Tuesday night's shooting. "I think this is an isolated incident," said Olga Machanic. "I've been riding this bus for years."

If you have any information on the gunman's whereabouts, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
