Suspected grow house operator charged

SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. (WSVN) -- A suspected grow house operator faced a judge after a special task force conducted a major drug bust in South Miami.

A judge set bond for Michael Carrero at $17,500 on multiple charges.

Police surrounded a suspected grow house near Southwest 61st Street and 66th Avenue, Wednesday morning. Streets were blocked off, and nearby South Miami Middle School was placed on lock down as police set up a perimeter.

Carrero, who was inside the home at the time, eventually surrendered to authorities.

Authorities removed marijuana from the home.

Agents also said they found a hydroponics lab inside the home.
