HOMESTEAD, Fla. (WSVN) -- Miami-Dade Homicide Detectives are investigating the body of a woman who was found in garbage bags behind a local home.

Police were notified of the body just before 6 a.m. Monday. The unknown woman's body was found next to a pickup truck behind a home located at Southwest 320th Street and Seventh Avenue.

The owner of the home, who did not want to be identified, said the truck belongs to him. On Sunday, he said off camera, his truck was stolen, and overnight he heard someone driving it around his house. He then found the woman's body in the grass next to his truck.

Neighbors are now terrified of the homicide that occurred so close to their homes. "I see a lot of people hanging out that are a little creepy and you don't know what they're going to do," said Diane Rodriguez.

"The crime, the drug dealing they are having here, I just don't like it, and I have kids, and I can't raise my kids like that," said Sally Garcia.

There is no word on how the woman died or how long her body was there. Police are questioning neighbors.

Authorities are now working on identifying the woman. Her body has been taken to the medical examiner's office who will work to determine a cause of death.

If you have any information on this murder, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
