Former local teacher accused of sex with teen

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A former South Florida teacher is facing some alarming accusations.

Thomas Keelan is accused of having a two-year sexual relationship with a student.

According to published reports, he taught at Miami Country Day School in Miami Shores and Rabbi Alexander S. Gross Hebrew Academy in Miami Beach.

Officials said they nabbed Keelan after, they said, he drove from Virginia to a Hollywood hotel to have sex with the now 17-year-old.

The Virginia-based school where the 54-year-old is currently employed released a statement saying, "While we don't know if the allegations are true, we have placed Tom Keelan on administrative leave preceding the outcome of the criminal proceedings."
