Driver cited after crashing into business

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida driver accidentally hit the gas pedal and slammed into a cellular phone store.
A sport utility vehicle crashed though a Metro PCS store, located at 280 NE 8 St. in Homestead, Thursday.
Noel Aguero owns the business and said a customer wound up pinned against the wall. "She couldn't move because the tables and chairs were on top of her," he said.
According to police, the driver, a man in his 50s, was backing into a parking space when he accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake pedal.
Esperanza Guillen works at the store and was helping a customer when she heard the loud crash. "All of a sudden, everything came towards me," she said, speaking through a translator. "She helped to free her knees from the mess and the customer was taken to the hospital."
Relatives hope they can open the family business again in a few days.
The store employee who was hurt was treated for minor injuries and is expected to recover.
The driver was cited for careless driving.
